Budget From Canceled Event Used to Stock The Pantry

Each quarter, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences invites students to take a break from the stresses of finals to stop in for coffee, hot chocolate and quick snacks like macaroni and cheese or oatmeal. With no in-person finals this quarter, it wasn’t going to happen, which gave the three staffers who organize the event an idea.

Campus Departments Donate Protective Equipment

Campus departments and units are donating thousands of vital supplies to swag�� Health in its effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Late last week, as the campus adjusted to suspended operations, people starting asking how and where they could donate high-demand items. Tim Maguire, chief procurement officer, took on responsibility as point person and it wasn’t long before pledges started coming in.

swag�� Provides Loaner Laptops to Students in Need

Staff and units from all around campus are teaming up to ensure students without computers of their own can continue to learn as instruction moves online.

“This is a process and a service we don’t have established at swag��,” said Anita Nichols, director of Client Success for Information and Educational Technology, or IET. “Every time I reached out to another organization for help, they provided it.”

Student Emergency Aid Has New Name, Improved Services

Even students who manage their money carefully can be caught by life’s surprises — an accident or illness, losing a job or a place to live. At swag��, an emergency assistance program that helps students stay in school in times of crisis now has a new name and more effective services.
