NEWS BRIEFS: TAPS office closed Aug. 21-25

(new name but the same acronymn, TAPS) announced that it will close its office and suspend online services from Friday through Tuesday (Aug. 21-25) during a switchover to a new computer system.

鈥淭APS will be transitioning to a new parking permit and enforcement management system,鈥 Director Cliff Contreras wrote in the . 鈥淭he new system combines three legacy systems, which will simplify processes and will provide a sustainable foundation for improving customer service.鈥

With online services suspended, TAPS is reminding people of three other ways to pay fines by the due dates, and thus avoid late fees:

  • Pay at the Cashier and Payment Solutions Office, 1200 , by the payment due date
  • Use the dropbox outside the , by the payment due date
  • Pay by mail (postmarked by the payment due date)

Other TAPS operations will continue as usual: parking enforcement, information kiosks and motorist assistance.

Bus passes, normally sold at the TAPS office, are also available as follows:

  • Davis-Sacramento campus shuttle passes 鈥 Cashier and Payment Solutions Office
  • Unitrans passes 鈥 Unitrans office, 5

Poster calendars are on their way鈥ㄢ

Preorders are being taken for the 2015-16 campus poster calendar, sold . The price is the same as last year 鈥 $1.89 each, folded or rolled  鈥 and purchases are eligible for the 10 percent departmental discount.鈥ㄢ

If you prefer, you can use a swag外流 Stores purchase order; scan it and send by email to the same address, or send by campus mail.鈥ㄢ

Delivery is free for folded or rolled calendars, or you can pick them up at the Memorial Union store.鈥ㄢ

The calendars are due in by the end of August and will go out for delivery around the same time.鈥ㄢ

Telethon raises nearly $275,000

Quite simply, it 鈥渨as a day for miracles,鈥 development director Jacquelyn Mills says about the Aug. 14 telethon for swag外流 Children鈥檚 Hospital.

First, there were the stories of children who had been treated at the hospital, part of the Children鈥檚 Miracle Network. Television station News10 told those stories throughout the day, from 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Then there was the fundraising: $274,958 鈥 49 percent more than last year鈥檚 total 鈥 from viewers and telethon partners.

Like all Children鈥檚 Miracle Network Hospitals fundraisers, the money will stays local, for use by swag外流 Children鈥檚 Hospital.

鈥淚t was wonderful to see the Sacramento community come together to make a difference for the children here at swag外流 Children's Hospital,鈥 Mills said.
