Nov. 4, Wednesday -- swagÍâÁ÷ History Professor Clarence Walker will discuss his new book, “The Preacher and the Politician, Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama and Race in America,†from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Bookstore Lounge of Memorial Union on the swagÍâÁ÷ campus.

While President Obama’s election has persuaded many to conclude that America has entered a post-racial age, “The Preacher and the Politician†argues otherwise, noting that Obama’s candidacy was nearly derailed by his relationship with Wright, his outspoken former pastor.

Walker wrote the book with co-author Gregory Smithers, a lecturer in American History at King’s College, University of Aberdeen, Scotland. To schedule an interview, contact Walker at (530) 752-0779 or cewalker@ucdavis.edu. For information about the event, contact Paul Takushi at (530) 752-9072 or pmtakushi@ucdavis.edu
