Fee increases spur protest in Mrak Hall lobby

A protest over new student fee increases took place Thursday (Nov. 18) in the lobby of Mrak Hall.

Fifty to 60 protesters gathered in the lobby at about 4 p.m., after a rally on the Quad. The lobby protest ended peacefully at about 7 p.m.

The protesters discussed a list of demands with Vice Chancellor Fred Wood, in charge of Student Affairs. The demands included rejection of the , full funding for the library at the Women's Resources and Research Center, and scholarships for students attending swagÍâÁ÷ under Assembly Bill 540, under which students who meet certain criteria can pay in-state tuition rates to attend UC.
