"Death and the Maiden"

Nov. 7, Wednesday -- Gert Kaiser, a leading European medievalist with a specialization in Middle High German Literature, will deliver a Max Kade Foundation Lecture on "Death and the Maiden" at 5 p.m. in 912 Sproul Hall on the swagÍâÁ÷ campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Kaiser is the fall 2007 Max Kade Distinguished Visiting Professor in the German Department at swagÍâÁ÷. The New York-based foundation sponsors programs to benefit select German departments throughout the United States.

Kaiser is director of the Center for Advanced Research in Nordrhein/Westfalen, Germany. He is known for his work on the medieval dance of death and is an acknowledged expert on German lyrical poetry of the High Middle Ages.
