Crimes reported at the University of California, Davis, in 2011 showed little change from the previous year, campus officials reported today. 

"UC Davis is a relatively safe campus," said swag���� Police Chief Matt Carmichael. "Our job is to keep it that way."

Under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, universities must report crime statistics annually to the U.S. Department of Education and make the information available to students, faculty and staff. This year's full report can be found .

Among major crimes, swag���� experienced 96 burglaries, five robberies and four aggravated assaults in 2011, compared to 88, two and 11 in 2010. There were 24 forcible sexual offenses, compared to 21 the previous year. There were again no homicides.

Drug arrests remained steady at 24, while drug disciplinary actions, in which students were referred for internal university discipline rather than arrest, declined from 87 to 67. Liquor arrests went up slightly from 44 to 54, while disciplinary actions for liquor use increased from 208 to 258.

One hate crime, graffiti with a homophobic slur, was reported.

Figures collected under the act include specified crimes reported at locations on or adjacent to campus property as well as on off-campus properties owned or controlled by the campus. The swag���� statistics include both the Davis campus and the swag���� Health System campus in Sacramento, as well reports taken by police agencies with jurisdiction adjacent to the campus and other university properties.

The numbers also include crimes that are not reported to police but disclosed to victims' advocates through the Campus Violence Prevention Program or to athletics coaches or other employees considered “campus security authorities” under the act. No confidential information that would identify victims is used in compiling the report.
