The Department of Music swings from madness in October to jazz in November:
• Madness and Music Festival — It continues through this weekend, with a program that includes two swagÍâÁ÷ performance groups: the Empyrean Ensemble, tonight (Oct. 29), and the Symphony Orchestra, Oct. 31.
• Jazz Bands — Delbert Bump and his musicians are set to perform Nov. 17 in their first concert of 2010-11. 7 p.m., Vanderhoef Studio Theatre, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.
